Digital Direct Printing (DDP) has been in Victoria since 2000 as a marriage between two different companies – Graphic Knights Service Bureau, with expertise in prepress and digital file manipulation, and Victoria Online Graphics, a small offset printing company. This started with the purchase of our building and a new Heidelberg DI (Digital Imaging) Offset press, and Digital Direct Printing was born. Three years later after the demise of two major local print shops, Fleming Printing and Manning Press, we began the next phase of our growth. Victoria was in danger of losing much of this region’s print work to offshore printers. OK, maybe the Lower Mainland is not technically “offshore” but it certainly isn’t local is it.
Thus, we saw an opportunity and bought still more Heidelberg presses, including a Speedmaster 74 six colour press with inline aqueous coating. This is still the largest sheet-fed press on the island along with all the finishing equipment needed to support it. The following year we added a state of the art prepress system complete with colour profiling and computer-to-plate making capability. Now, after almost two decades of renovations, equipment purchases and software upgrades, Digital Direct Printing is the go-to printer for many area businesses. Thank goodness for that!

We’re an award winning, environmentally sustainable manufacturer. All our standard in-house paper stocks feature chain-of-custody sourcing certification and/or contain recycled fibers and we frequently print on 100% recycled fiber stocks. Even our synthetic stocks are manufactured from recycled plastics! Virtually everything we routinely use is reused or recycled, including our printing plates. Even our coffee grounds and food wastes are bicycled away to become fertilizer!
Our Bio Sustainable mark is our promise that we care about our collective environment, the impact of your printed products, and our worker’s safety. From our reduced power usage on light fixtures and climate controls, low VOC and vegetable-based inks, H2O based press wash solutions and fixers in our plate developer, and natural Gum Arabic as our plate sealer, we have invested heavily and strategically to ensure we tread softly with our carbon footprint!
We actively support our community
Founders John and son Geoff have giant hearts – plus a shared love for curling! Since founding DDP, they have gifted hundreds of thousands of dollars in printed products to needy charities, not-for-profits and special events. Among other things, that’s help put smiles on tiny faces and food in hungry bellies!
Most of our staff belongs to at least one special interest group and together we believe in supporting events which assist those in need, and still others which help bring visitors and new businesses to our island paradise.
